Expiry evidence consists of notAfter and a chosen threshold. Separate verification asks about name, chain, and trust. SNI selects the virtual host and does not validate its certificate.

Certificate expiry is a date, not a dashboard color

Use SNI, inspect the public certificate, and alert before renewal becomes an incident.

The server sends the leaf and needed intermediates; the client builds a path to its own trust anchor and also checks hostname and validity.

A certificate chain is a path you should be able to print

Read the chain the edge actually presents, not just the leaf, before you trust the rollout.

An explicit publication root containing files leads to a public response. A dashed arrow warns that a symlink can reach outside the root; the root is not a sandbox.

A static server should have one obvious root

One root, one file_server, and a small header policy make a static deployment easy to inspect.

Retrieve an archive and checksum from storage, verify the retrieved copy before use, and restore into an isolated disposable test target. Check files, permissions and elapsed restore time. A stored file alone is not proof of recovery.

Backups are only useful after a restore rehearsal

Choose a small recovery unit, verify it, and practice restoring it somewhere disposable.

A chronological sequence shows live holding the old tree, live absent between two moves, and live holding the new tree. Move one renames live to rollback; move two renames stage to live.

Publish a static site by switching complete directories

Staging avoids file-by-file overwrites, but this two-step switch briefly removes the live path and still requires compatible assets for older pages.
